Arriving at the airport and transport into city

The airport is modern and surprisingly uncrowded considering that Benito Juarez is the only airport serving this gigantic metropolis.

One important safety measure is attention to taxi choice.  Taxi crime was high in the 1990’s and has diminished significantly, but it is still important to take authorized cabs and not to hail a taxi on the street.  From the airport, this is easy.  Go to one of the taxi company booths near the baggage claim area (see picture).  It doesn’t matter which company–all are safe and honest.  You pay for your fare at the booth, and then they will direct you outside to pick up your cab.

Not far from baggage claim, this is where you go inside the airport to hire a cab
